ActiveSG Tennis Lessons Singapore with TAG International
TAG International Tennis Academy runs ActiveSG tennis lessons at ten public tennis centres across Singapore, from Kallang and Farrer Park in the city to Jurong West and Choa Chu Kang in the west. You book the court on MyActiveSG; we bring the coach, the balls and the lesson plan.
ActiveSG is the national movement for sport run by Sport Singapore. Its tennis centres are among the most accessible courts on the island – floodlit, open daily from early morning until late evening, and served by public car parks and nearby MRT stations.
Because the courts are public, ActiveSG venues are the most cost-effective way to take a lesson with a professional coach in Singapore: you pay the public court fee on top of the coaching, nothing more. If you would rather train out of the sun and rain, ActiveSG’s Heartbeat@Bedok Tennis Centre has six indoor courts, and TAG also manages the indoor courts at Winchester Tennis Arena.

Private Tennis Lessons at ActiveSG Tennis Centres
Private lessons are the platinum standard of TAG International Tennis Academy’s coaching for adults and kids. Each lesson is built around what you actually need, discussed and planned with you before the first ball is struck – technical drill work to turn a weakness into a strength, tactical live-ball sessions to learn the patterns that win matches, or simply a good hit after a hectic day at the office.
What a private lesson at an ActiveSG centre includes
- One-to-one coaching with your TAG coach for the full hour, or semi-private coaching for two players
- Match-quality tennis balls and training aids supplied by the coach
- A clear development focus to work on between lessons
- Coaching for every level, from complete beginners to tournament juniors

Who You Will Be Learning From
A public court does not mean a part-time coach. TAG’s roster is led by players who have competed and been ranked internationally, and every credential below is published on the coach’s own profile site.
- Coach XT (Tan Xu Teng) – founder of TAG International Tennis Academy. Career-high ITF Men’s 35+ world #56, Singapore’s #1 ranked men’s doubles player in August 2018, Singapore Open champion in 2019, Men’s 35+ Pesta Sukan champion, and bronze medallist in men’s singles at the 2004 ASEAN University Games. He coached Singapore’s Men’s National Team in 2018 and has trained more than 15 national champions. PTR Full Professional (elite juniors 11-17), AustralAsian Academy of Tennis Coaches Level 2, Certified Mental Toughness Coach, NROC-registered through CoachSG and MOE-accredited. He was the first Senior Coach of the ActiveSG Tennis Academy – which is why TAG knows these ten centres as well as anyone coaching in Singapore – and has been head coach at Nanyang Girls’ High School, Hwa Chong Institution and St Joseph’s Institution. His TAG profile.
- Coach Bo Alburo – ITF Men’s 35+ World #2 in singles, one of the highest-ranked veteran players in the world, with tournament experience across several continents against the world’s leading veteran players. His TAG profile.
- Coach Kento Takeuchi – former ATP professional, career-high ATP world #378, Japan national #7 and All Japan Under-18 champion. He coaches through TAG’s partner academy Sanwa X, and you can read how the two academies work together on our TAG x Sanwa X page.
- Coach Wataru Ochi – head coach at Sanwa X, All Japan Championship quarter-finalist, and an ATP and WTA coach with more than 25 years working with elite players in Singapore.
The full roster is on our Singapore tennis coaches page, and the people running the academy are listed under our management team.

- Beginner tennis lessons (FAQ)
- Competitive squad training for tournament players
TAG also runs the ActiveSG Academy by TAG International. The complete list is on our tennis programmes page, and all our other teaching locations are on the venues page.

Every centre below is a public ActiveSG venue where TAG coaches. Court numbers and addresses are taken from each centre’s own page – click through for opening hours, parking, the MyActiveSG booking link and the lessons we run there.

How to read the table. Nine of the ten centres publish opening hours of 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. daily; check the Kallang Tennis Centre page and MyActiveSG for that venue’s hours. Heartbeat@Bedok is the only one of the ten with indoor courts, which makes it the reliable choice in the wet season. Kallang is the largest and the easiest to get a court at short notice; Jurong West and Pasir Ris have two courts each and are the hardest, so book those two weeks ahead.
Not near any of them? TAG also coaches at Our Tampines Hub, Winchester Tennis Arena, NUSS Kent Ridge, the Chinese Swimming Club at Katong and One-North. The full list is on our venues page, and our wider network of coaches and partners is on our coaching network.
Pickleball Near These ActiveSG Centres
Plenty of our tennis families have picked up pickleball as well. PickleChoo runs dedicated pickleball courts in Singapore – PickleChoo Arena at One-North, PickleChoo Prime on New Industrial Road and PickleChoo Apex at Henderson – and TAG runs pickleball lessons using the same coaching structure as our tennis programmes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I book a tennis lesson at an ActiveSG tennis centre?
Message TAG International on WhatsApp at +65 9029 8400 or use our contact page, and tell us which centre and what times suit you. We confirm a coach, then tell you exactly which court to book through MyActiveSG.
How much does an ActiveSG tennis lesson cost?
Lesson rates depend on the coach and the programme and are listed on our pricing page and on each centre’s own page. The ActiveSG court fee is paid separately to Sport Singapore and is among the lowest court fees in Singapore.
Which ActiveSG tennis centre should I choose?
Choose the one nearest home, school or work – the coaching is the same at every venue. Heartbeat@Bedok and Pasir Ris serve the east, Jurong West and Choa Chu Kang the west, Yio Chu Kang the north, and Kallang, Farrer Park, St Wilfred, Burghley and MOE Evans Road the central districts. The comparison table above puts the court numbers and addresses side by side.
Which ActiveSG tennis centre has the most tennis courts?
Kallang Tennis Centre, with 14 courts and 2 tennis walls – the largest of the ten and the easiest to get a court at short notice. Yio Chu Kang is next with 9 outdoor courts, then Farrer Park with 8 outdoor courts and 2 tennis walls. The smallest are Jurong West and Pasir Ris, with 2 courts each.
Are any ActiveSG tennis courts indoor?
Yes – Heartbeat@Bedok Tennis Centre has 6 indoor courts, and it is the only one of the ten ActiveSG centres where rain does not stop play. The other nine are outdoor. For indoor courts elsewhere on the island, TAG also coaches at Winchester Tennis Arena.
What time do ActiveSG tennis centres open?
Nine of the ten centres state opening hours of 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. daily. Check the Kallang Tennis Centre page and MyActiveSG for that venue’s hours. Courts are floodlit, so evening lessons after work are normal.
How far in advance should I book an ActiveSG court?
Two weeks ahead is the usual advice at the ActiveSG centres, and it matters most at the two-court venues – Jurong West and Pasir Ris – where peak evening and weekend slots go quickly. Tell us your preferred times when you enquire and we will work around what you can actually book.
Do I need to bring my own racquet and balls?
Tennis balls for your lesson are provided by your TAG coach. Bring your own racquet and a water bottle.
Can a complete beginner start at an ActiveSG centre?
Yes. Public courts are where most of our adult beginners start, and our coaches teach from the very first grip. See beginner tennis lessons.
Does TAG coach anywhere other than ActiveSG courts?
Yes. TAG coaches at clubs, condominiums, schools and private venues across the island, including the indoor courts at Winchester Tennis Arena, NUSS Kent Ridge, the Chinese Swimming Club at Katong and One-North. The full list is on our venues page.
