Coach XT Tan Xu Teng, Founder TAG International Tennis Academy

Tan Xu Teng — known as Coach XT — is the Founder and Managing Partner of TAG International Tennis Academy, established in Singapore in 2001. Under his leadership, TAG has grown into Singapore’s most trusted tennis academy, having coached over 10,000 students across all ages, levels, and backgrounds.

Coach XT is one of Singapore’s most accomplished competitive players. He represented Singapore at the ASEAN University Games 2004, winning a Bronze Medal in Men’s Singles. He is a Singapore Men’s Singles and Doubles A Division Champion, and currently holds an ITF Men’s 35+ World Ranking of #56 — placing him among the top-ranked Singaporean players on the international senior circuit.

An NUS Law Graduate (LLB Hons), Coach XT brings both intellectual rigour and elite competitive insight to every coaching session.

Coach XT’s expertise has been recognised at the highest levels of world tennis. In 2017, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) invited him as a keynote speaker at the prestigious WTA Coaches Conference during the Singapore WTA Finals — a distinction reserved for the world’s leading tennis minds and coaches.

He was also appointed as Senior Coach of the ActiveSG Tennis Academy, Singapore’s national tennis development programme, further establishing his authority as one of Singapore’s foremost tennis professionals. His work has been featured on Channel 8 News, reflecting his profile as a leading voice in Singapore’s tennis community.

Coach XT’s vision of hiring only the finest player-coaches from across the region has set the standard for TAG International’s coaching team. His coaching philosophy centres on three pillars: technical excellence, tactical intelligence, and mental resilience.

He believes every player — regardless of age or ability — deserves structured, evidence-based coaching that produces measurable progress over time. Students trained by Coach XT have achieved national junior rankings, represented Singapore at the SEA Games, Davis Cup, and Fed Cup, and gone on to compete at university level both locally and internationally.

Coach XT pioneered Singapore’s first sheltered indoor tennis courts by opening Winchester Tennis Arena in 2015 — a 4-court indoor facility that enables year-round consistent training regardless of Singapore’s tropical weather.
