Picking up tennis as an adult in Singapore — or coming back after a break? This FAQ answers what adult learners ask us most: whether it’s too late to start, gear, scheduling around work, pricing and how to book. For the full picture, see our adult tennis lessons in Singapore guide.

I’m an adult with no experience — can I really learn tennis?
Yes, and you’d be in good company. We coach adults of every age and fitness level, from total beginners to busy professionals looking for a new way to stay active. Our accredited coaches tailor each session to your pace, so you’ll progress steadily without feeling out of your depth.
I used to play years ago — can you help me get back into it?
Definitely. Returning players are a big part of our adult coaching, and our coaches are excellent at refreshing old strokes and ironing out rusty habits. We’ll quickly assess where you are and rebuild your game from there. Many returners are pleasantly surprised how fast it comes back.
What should I wear and bring to an adult lesson?
Comfortable activewear, proper court shoes with good lateral grip, a water bottle and a towel are the essentials. For outdoor sessions, add a cap and sunscreen — Singapore’s heat and humidity are no joke, even in the morning. We supply balls and can lend a racquet for your first sessions.
Do I need to buy a racquet before starting?
No. We can lend you a racquet for your trial and early lessons so you can start with zero outlay. Once you’re committed, your coach will recommend a racquet suited to your strength, grip and style — there’s no need to guess at a sports shop.
What if it rains during my session?
TAG owns Winchester Tennis Arena, with 4 sheltered indoor courts at Alexandra Park, so your lesson can carry on rain or shine. For outdoor venues, we’ll reschedule or move you indoors where possible. This means your training routine isn’t held hostage by the afternoon storms.
How often should I train as an adult, and how long are lessons?
Lessons usually run one hour. For meaningful progress alongside a busy schedule, once a week is a solid baseline, and twice a week accelerates things noticeably. We can build a frequency and package around your work and family commitments.
Can I schedule lessons around my work hours?
Yes. With coaching available island-wide and across early mornings, evenings and weekends, we can usually find slots that fit around your job. Tell us your availability and preferred area, and we’ll match you with a coach. Lunchtime sessions near the CBD and One-North are popular with professionals.
How much do adult lessons cost?
Private 1-to-1 lessons start from around S$120–160 per hour, depending on indoor or outdoor courts and the size of your package. Group options are available if you’d prefer a more social, cost-effective format. WhatsApp us and we’ll suggest the best-value package for your goals.
Where can I take adult lessons?
Island-wide. Our indoor home base is Winchester Tennis Arena at Alexandra Park, and we also coach at TAG @ One-North, Chinese Swimming Club, NUSS @ Kent Ridge, SJI International, Nanyang Girls’ High, Eunos/Ubi Techpark and many condominium courts. If your condo has a court, we can often come to you.
Are the coaches properly qualified?
Yes. Our coaches are full-time accredited ex-pros certified by the ITF, LTA and STA — not freelancers. Founder Coach XT (Tan Xu Teng) is an ITF World #56-ranked, PTR-certified coach, and that calibre is reflected across the whole team. You’re learning from people who’ve played and coached at a high level.
How do I book an adult lesson or trial?
WhatsApp us at +65 9029 8400 with your level, preferred area and availability, and we’ll arrange a coach and venue. You can also email contactus@tagtennis.org. Many adults start with a single trial lesson before committing to a package.

Adults at TAG train inside a credential-first coaching system rather than with an unverified freelancer. Founder Coach XT (Tan Xu Teng) is a PTR Full Professional and ITF Men’s 35+ career-high World #56, and the roster includes Coach Bo Alburo, ITF Men’s 35+ World #2 and a nine-time Singapore Open champion — so the technique you learn is the technique they still compete with. Prefer Japanese, ATP Tour–calibre coaching? Partner academy Sanwa X welcomes adult players too, and many of our adults also pick up pickleball for a lower-impact racquet sport at PickleChoo, Singapore’s premier outdoor courts.
