TAG Tennis Coach Tan Xu Teng, or Coach XT as he is affectionately called by his students, competed on the ITF Men’s Singles 35+ Seniors Tour from 2017-2018. The tournaments took Hong Kong, China, Australia (Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Canberra) and the United Kingdom. Posting impressive wins in men’s singles the tournaments, Coach X rose to a world ranking of #56, the highest achieved for a Singaporean.

Coach X is currently the Senior Coach of the ActiveSG Tennis Academy, Head Coach of Nanyang Girl’s High School B Division Tennis Team, and the Head Coach of TAG International Tennis Academy at Winchester Tennis Arena.

TAG Tennis Coach XT

Coach XT graduated from Raffles Institution in 1996 and Raffles Junior College in 1998, captaining the team to the gold medal, beating Anglo-Chinese Junior College 4-1 in the finals. Coach X also represented Singapore in the ASEAN University Games, winning a Bronze Medal in the Men’s Tennis Singles individual event for Singapore. Coach XT has always been considered one of the top Singaporean competitive tennis players, attaining the coveted number 1 ranking in August 2018 in the Men’s Open Doubles Category.

Coach Tan Xu Teng’s personal achievements in tennis and his coaching credentials was recognised in Singapore’s tennis circles and he was appointed as the Senior Coach of the ActiveSG Tennis Academy in 2018.

Coach Xu Teng invited to present his work at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore Coaches’ Conference

Coach Xu Teng’s work in Singapore in developing an unusually large number of competitive junior tennis players to the top of their respective rankings earned him a invitation to present his work – philosophy, ideas, beliefs and methodology at the prestigious WTA Coaches Conference at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore. His paper “The Little Difference that make a Big Difference in the Development of High Performance Juniors” was very insightful and well-received by the audience, who fielded many questions on how best to help their students or children become high-level tennis players.

Coach XT’s Coaching Credentials

Coach XT is a coach certified by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), attaining the qualification of Professional (the highest honours). He is also a holder of the Level 2 coaching certification from the Australasian Academy of Tennis Coaches (AATC). He also attended number tennis coaching workshops by SPORTSG, ActiveSG Tennis Academy, and studied under numerous tennis mentors such as Robert Davis, Danai Udomchoke (ATP #77), and Thanakorn Srichaphan. In a continuous effort to keep up to date with the latest in tennis Coach XT is currently pursuing his GPTCA Coaching Certifications.

Coach XT is also a tennis coach in Singapore accredited by the National Registry of Coaches (NROC) by CoachSG, and is also registered with the Ministry of Education. He is also a Basic First Aid and AED Certified by Emergencies and Rescue First Aid.

Many of Singapore’s top Juniors train or have trained at the Academy with him and his coaches, currently or in the past. Some of the notable players include Joelle Goh, Julienne Goh, Lim Lerr Min, Claire Chan, Charlotte Yeo, Sarah Chan, Alexis Yeo, Chong Xin Ying, and Kyra Yip. Of the boys, they include Matthias Wong, Maximus Wong, Bill Chan, Ian Lai and Chong Xin Yi. Several other elite juniors also train several with the TAG International Tennis Academy’s coaches Coach Rocky (Erin Lee, Kate and Ann Chui, Vishal Prakash), Coach Bo (Aaron Chiu, Evan Lee, Samuel Ng, Bryan Leong,), Coach Israel (Matthew Lim, Joelle Goh, Jeovanne Cenace, Nicole Tan, Joy Lim), Coach Dave (Abriez Wong, Sarah Sharifah Sofian), Coach Bobby (Jordan, Eldon Lee), Coach Jeremy (Bill Chan, Claire Chang, Charlotte Yeo, Charles and Leroy, Micaela Hiu and Gabriela Hiu), Coach Ten Rapeepat (Poon and Prai).
