Group Tennis Lessons Singapore — FAQ

What are group tennis lessons and who are they for?

Group lessons are sessions where a small number of students learn together with one coach, making them ideal for friends, families, colleagues or anyone who enjoys a social, motivating environment. They’re a great fit for beginners and improvers alike. They also tend to be more affordable per person than private coaching.

How many people are in a group?

We keep groups small so everyone gets plenty of court time and individual attention — overcrowded classes mean less hitting and slower progress. The exact size depends on the level and venue, so WhatsApp us and we’ll let you know current group options. We can also set up a private group just for you and your friends.

Are players grouped by skill level?

Yes. We do our best to match players of similar ability so everyone progresses at a comfortable pace and the rallies stay enjoyable. If you’re a beginner, you won’t be thrown in with seasoned players. Tell us your level and we’ll place you appropriately.

Can I form my own group with friends or colleagues?

Absolutely — this is one of the most popular ways to learn with us. Gather a few friends, family members or co-workers of a similar level and we’ll arrange a dedicated coach and court for your group. It’s social, cost-effective and easy to schedule around a shared calendar.

What should I bring to a group lesson?

Bring comfortable sportswear, proper court shoes with good grip, a water bottle and a towel. For outdoor venues, add a cap and sunscreen for Singapore’s sun. We provide the balls, and racquets can be lent for those just starting out.

What happens to group lessons when it rains?

Because TAG owns Winchester Tennis Arena with 4 sheltered indoor courts at Alexandra Park, group sessions there go ahead rain or shine. For outdoor groups, we’ll reschedule or move indoors where possible. This keeps your group’s momentum going through the monsoon season.

How long are group lessons and how often do they run?

Group sessions typically run one hour, often on a weekly basis to build consistency. We can advise on the best frequency for your group’s goals and schedule. Regular weekly slots help the whole group improve together.

How much do group lessons cost per person?

Group lessons are more affordable per person than private 1-to-1 coaching, with the exact rate depending on group size, venue and package. For reference, TAG’s private 1-to-1 lessons are S$135 per hour ad hoc island-wide, falling to S$115 per hour on a 40-hour package, with indoor lessons at Winchester Tennis Arena priced separately. WhatsApp us for current group pricing and availability.

Where are group lessons held?

Island-wide, including our indoor Winchester Tennis Arena at Alexandra Park, plus TAG @ One-North, Chinese Swimming Club in Katong, NUSS @ Kent Ridge, SJI International, Nanyang Girls’ High, Eunos and Ubi Techpark, and many condominium courts — see the full list of TAG tennis venues in Singapore. If your condo has a court, we can often run your group there. Message us to find the most convenient venue.

Who will be coaching the group?

All group sessions are led by our accredited, full-time coaches — ex-pros certified by the ITF, LTA and STA, not casual freelancers. Our network of 15+ certified coaches works under founder Coach XT (Tan Xu Teng), who holds a career-high ITF Men’s 35+ world ranking of #56 and PTR Full Professional certification, and includes world-ranked players such as Coach Bo Alburo, ITF Men’s 35+ World #2 in singles. You and your group get serious coaching quality at a shared rate.
