About Us
Coach Tan Xu Teng (XT) is the Founder and Managing Partner of TAG International, whose coaches have been teaching across Singapore since 2001. The academy has managed the tennis programmes of clubs, condominiums, schools and ActiveSG centres island-wide, and specialises in personalised private and group lessons.
Coach XT is a competitive player as well as a coach, and each of the claims below is published somewhere you can check. He reached a career-high world ranking of No. 56 on the ITF Men’s 35+ Tour while competing on that tour in 2017 and 2018, and he was Singapore’s No. 1 ranked men’s doubles player in August 2018. He represented Singapore at the ASEAN University Games in 2004, winning an individual Bronze Medal in Men’s Singles, and he is a Singapore Open Champion (2019) and a Singapore Men’s Singles and Doubles A Division Champion. In 2018 he was appointed coach of Singapore’s Men’s National Team, the year the team earned Davis Cup promotion. His contributions to Singapore tennis were recognised by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), which invited him as a keynote speaker at the WTA Coaches Conference during the Singapore Finals in 2017.
In addition, Coach XT pioneered Singapore’s first sheltered indoor tennis courts. He opened Winchester Tennis Arena in 2015. The venue was designed as a gathering place for top players, competitive teams, and social groups. Junior players can now train in Singapore year-round. They no longer need to worry about inclement weather interrupting their sessions.

Coach XT’s vision of hiring only the very best players turned coaches from the region has set the direction for TAG International Tennis Academy which has surely and steadily, grown over the years. The competitive experiences of Coach XT and the team of Coaches led us to establish Singapore’s leading tennis academy where it produces top national juniors players.

Other Ventures
Xu Teng is also a well respected industry veteran in the entertainment and restaurant scene with his multi-award winning Wave House Sentosa that celebrated its tenth year anniversary in 2019. Wave House Sentosa has won many industry awards such as Singapore Tourism Board’s Singapore Tourism Award, IS-Magazine’s (now SG Magazine) Best Activity and Best Beach Bar in Singapore Awards, and numerous Best of Singapore and TripAdvisor Awards.
He also started, 実柚 ~みゆ ~ Miyu, a Japanese Omasake restaurant in September 2019 located at Duxton Road. Curating the finest Japanese omakase experience with the sincerest prices.

How to check a tennis coach’s credentials in Singapore
There is no single public register of tennis coaches here, which is why the word “certified”, on its own, tells you almost nothing. Three questions settle it. First, who issued the certification: PTR, USPTA, ATPCA, AATC and the ITF each publish their own tiers, and a named tier such as “Full Professional” can be checked with the issuing body. Second, is the coach accredited on the National Registry of Coaches, administered by CoachSG under Sport Singapore, and registered with MOE if they will be coaching in a school. Third, where is the ranking published: an ITF or ATP ranking lives on a player profile page that anyone can open, so ask for the link rather than the number.
Career high, or current?
A world ranking moves every week, so an honest claim says which kind it is. Coach XT’s ITF Men’s 35+ No. 56 and Coach Takeuchi’s ATP No. 378 are career highs. Coach XT’s Singapore No. 1 in men’s doubles is a standing, dated August 2018. Coach Bo Alburo’s ITF Men’s 35+ World No. 2 in singles is the ranking published on his ITF profile. We write them that way across this site — and if you find a page where we have not, tell us and we will correct it.
