Every ranking and certification on this page was issued by somebody other than us, so you can check it rather than take our word for it. These are the coaches’ own profile sites, and each one substantiates a specific credential cited above:

• coachxt.sg — Coach XT’s career-high ITF Men’s 35+ World No. 56, his Singapore No. 1 men’s doubles ranking of August 2018, his PTR Full Professional and AATC Level 2 certifications, and his NROC and MOE registrations.

How to check a tennis coach’s credentials in Singapore

There is no single public register of tennis coaches here, which is why the word “certified”, on its own, tells a parent almost nothing. Three questions settle it. First, who issued the certification: PTR, USPTA, ATPCA, AATC and the ITF each publish their own tiers, and a named tier such as “Full Professional” can be checked with the issuing body. Second, is the coach accredited on the National Registry of Coaches, administered by CoachSG under Sport Singapore, and registered with the Ministry of Education if they will be coaching in a school. Third, where is the ranking published: an ITF or ATP ranking lives on a player profile page anyone can open, so ask for the link rather than the number. Hold us to the same standard — the links above are there for exactly that.

Career high, or current?

A world ranking moves every week, so an honest claim says which kind it is. Coach XT’s ITF Men’s 35+ No. 56 and Coach Takeuchi’s ATP No. 378 are career highs. Coach XT’s Singapore No. 1 in men’s doubles is a standing, dated August 2018. Coach Bo Alburo’s ITF Men’s 35+ World No. 2 in singles is the ranking published on his ITF profile. Where a coach’s entry above names a title without a year, it is a title the coach reports and we have not dated it — ask us and we will tell you which year it was.

What the lesson actually looks like

Two practical things decide how a session runs here, and neither appears on a certificate. The first is the court: a fully sheltered indoor court at Winchester Tennis Arena means a lesson is never cancelled for weather, while condominium and ActiveSG court sessions are planned around rain and around the hours the court is bookable. The second is the heat: an afternoon session in Singapore is a different physiological task from the same drill at 8am, and we front-load intensity, schedule water breaks rather than offer them, and shorten rotations accordingly.
