From the NUS Law campus to the centre court
Tan Xu Teng — known to a generation of players simply as Coach XT — began coaching tennis in 2001 while reading law at the National University of Singapore. He saw a gap: Singapore needed world-class coaching standards if it wanted to raise its game. Rather than practise law, he chose the court. In 2007 he founded Tennis Allegiance Group (TAG) International to bring elite, internationally proven coaching to players here.
A coach who has competed at the top
Coach XT is not a part-time instructor. He is an internationally competitive player and a certified professional:
- ITF World Ranking — career high #56
- PTR-certified professional tennis coach
- Over two decades coaching players in Singapore, from first-timers to national-team juniors
- Mentor to many of the #1 players and age-group champions of the Singapore Tennis Association (STA) tournaments, several of whom have gone on to the Junior National Teams

He built the academy — and the arena
Most academies rent public courts by the hour. Coach XT did something almost no one else in Singapore has: he built his own indoor facility. Winchester Tennis Arena — four premium sheltered courts in Alexandra Park — is home to TAG, and means lessons run rain or shine, in cool, sheltered conditions.
Today TAG fields a team of 11 elite, ex-professional, fully accredited coaches (ITF / LTA / STA), including SEA Games and Davis Cup alumni — a depth of bench that protects your progress even when a coach is away, and a standard of vetting that freelance arrangements simply cannot guarantee.
The building did not stop at tennis. Coach XT is also the Founder of the PickleChoo Group of Courts — Singapore’s pickleball venue network comprising PickleChoo Arena, PickleChoo Prime and PickleChoo Apex — extending the same owner-operated facility model from tennis to pickleball.
